Outdoor lighting in Carrollwood
I'm Austin, the owner of Bayshore Nightscapes, and I live in Carrollwood. I'm not driving in from across the bay. I'm on Dale Mabry and Gunn Highway every day, I get coffee here, and I've lit homes on streets I walk my own neighborhood loop on. When a Carrollwood customer texts me that a light got knocked by the lawn guy, I can usually stop by that same afternoon.
Carrollwood is honestly one of the best parts of Tampa for landscape lighting. The oaks are huge and decades old, the lots have some room, and a lot of homes sit on Lake Carroll or one of the smaller lakes and ponds around Carrollwood Village. That gives you a lot to work with.
The big oaks. Most yards here have at least one live oak worth showing off. I like to light the trunk softly from below and put a fixture or two up in the branches for moonlighting, so the light filters down through the leaves onto the lawn. It looks like a full moon every night, and almost nobody does it.
The lakefront lots. If you're on Lake Carroll, the back of the house matters as much as the front. I keep the light low and aimed away from the water so you're not staring at glare off the lake from the lanai, and I use fixtures made for wet, humid shorelines.
The older ranch and pool homes. Plenty of Carrollwood houses are 1970s and 80s ranch homes with deep overhangs and big front beds. A soft wash across the front, a few path lights along the walk, and some bed lighting make a big difference. I dig by hand around old roots, so your oaks and beds stay healthy.
I work all over Carrollwood, including Carrollwood Village, the original Carrollwood off Casey Road, Lake Carroll, Carrollwood Meadows and the Village of Carrollwood.
